Week 2022-3 #11
Hey people,
I know I'm a little bit behind this year and I couldn't keep the same process to write weekly but I have a lot of content. I will share some extra newsletters this week to keep you updated.
First topic:
🎙 Interview Questions
Be prepared to answers questions like these.
What is your favorite product right now?
What product did you recently stop using because of the experience
Walk me through your design process.
This article can be useful to help you to prepare for those types of questions. And I hope you don't answer that you start your design process answering: First I open Figma.
🔧 Tools Highlight
Have you tried Penpot? I tried a few months ago and they have been improving a lot. Considering that Figma was pretty raw also in the beginning this could be a potential web-based competitor.
🧠 Dev Brain
You may know that last year I attendedIronhack's Web Dev bootcamp. I always say that learning how to code helps you to design better. This guide may help you improve your prototype.
🎨 Portfolios
As you know I have a huge list of portfolios on Secret Sauce, I'm moving and soon you will have a nice selection of portfolios to see. I would like to share this week Nicole Matos and Gonzalo Ortiz.
🤸♀️ Don't be disrupted
To improve your Business Analysis skills take a look in this article The rise and fall of Polaroid, they talk about the two different business strategies:
Positional View is concerned with product-market fit and asserts that value is derived from where a firm chooses to compete and how defensible that position is.
Resource-Based View looks at the advantage a firm’s unique resources give it.
Additionally, they discussed the key strategies a business can use to position itself: cost advantage, differentiation, and focus. They analyze Polaroid company to learn from their mistakes.
But if you are still a big fan of analog photography I will recommend the podcast Strctly Analog from Anne Groos, one of my current UXUI students.
Thank you and see you soon (very soon this time)!
