Happy Sunday,

In 9 weeks, we completed another UX/UI bootcamp and I am going to take a break before starting a new cohort. I had a great group and would appreciate your support.

Planning a User Research

The steps of Research will be discussed soon in the next cohort, and the following guideline was very helpful in 7 steps:

  1. Background

  2. Objectives

  3. Participants

  4. Methodology

  5. Interview Guide

  6. Approximate Timeline

  7. Resources

As part of my process, I also include the CSA Matrix and Desk Research to complete my research. And always a Journey Map to understand the user's journey.

Color Rule

Some students found this video to be extremely useful for their final project and I think it will be helpful to you as well.

Service Design

Although we don't speak a lot about Service Design in the Ironhack bootcamp, I believe it's a topic you should explore on your own. In fact, I'm planning to hold a workshop about it. If you're interested, email me (LinkedIn or Instagram).

Here are a few hints as to what you should know:

  1. Be easy to find

  2. Clearly explain the purpose of your service

  3. Set the expectations a user has of your service

  4. Enable each user to complete the outcome they set out to do

  5. Work in a way that is familiar

  6. Require no prior knowledge to use

  7. Be agnostic of organizational structures

  8. Require the minimum possible steps to complete

  9. Be consistent throughout

  10. Have no dead ends

  11. Be usable by everyone, equally

  12. Encourage the right behaviors from users and service providers

  13. Respond to change quickly

  14. Clearly explain why a decision has been made

  15. Make it easy to get human assistance

No-coding

The first DOJO+ app I made used Bravo Studio, an awesome app that lets you turn your Figma or XD design into a real app for iOS or Android.

I'm building a new app related to museums and culture, and I'll be posting some tutorials soon. Are you interested in learning how to make it in a 1-week workshop? Please let me know.

Design Patterns

Often we spend a lot of time researching competitors' flows but these websites can be extremely helpful when learning from other apps. Yes, copy, twist and improve your user experience.

  • Mobbin

  • UI Patterns

  • UX Archive

  • pttrns.

  • Screenlane

Our portfolio for this week: Yuri Shin

I've always recommended UXfol.io because of how easy it is to use. I do think Yuri Shin's portfolio is fantastic and direct.

See you next week!
