Week 2022-1 #9
Hello everybody!
It's good to be back, this newsletter was supposed to be released before but I was having a great family time during the holidays.
Let's start Week 1 and newsletter edition 9. If you don't know my lucky number is 9.đ
Nothing better than starting with some foundations after all design trends from the past newsletter.
Where you innovate, how you innovate, and what you innovate are design problems.

đĄ Creativity in 2022
From my hundreds of opened tabs in Edge, I found this article about creativity. A more creative year
How people approach problems and solutionsâtheir capacity to put existing ideas together in new combinations.
Myths:
Creativity is genetic: Weâre eager to believe that some people are born creative and others drew from a different genetic hand.
Creative ideas have to be original: In business, originality isnât enough. To be creative, an idea must improve a product or open up a new way to approach a process.
Creativity arrives in a single flash of brilliance: The problem with the âEureka Myth,â is that it provides a convenient excuse for procrastinating while waiting for the aha moment to strike. In reality, creativity involves weeks (or months) of idea incubation.
A study by Adobe and Forrester found that 82% of companies believe there is a strong link between creativity and business results.
What can you do to overcome your doubt about your creativity?
Generate as many ideas as possible: Using mind mappingâa graphical tool that can incorporate words, images, numbers, and colorsâyou can generate more ideas and intuitively organize your thoughts.
Go for a walk: Physical movement has been shown to have a positive effect on creative thinking. Get out of your chair, and walk to spur solutions to a problem.
Learn something new: Talk with friends or colleagues in different industries, or by taking a course on an unfamiliar topic, and then riffing on the learnings to come up with innovative concepts.
But if you are not motivated enough to build new things use this canvas How To Get Motivated from Whimsical.
đ New Year New Habits?
Personally, I don't believe anymore in this magical moment of a new year to start a habit. You should be enough motivated to start anything that matters in your life, anytime, basically One Day or Day One.
I also remove distractions and have a minimal desktop (physical and digital).
â± Timeboxing is one of the most effective means of ensuring you know what youâre going to do and when youâre going to do it.
And, don't fall into the habit trap from productivity gurus. Habits are overrated.
đ And more important.
Understand the difference between enjoying your youth and destroying your future.
đ§ Secret Sauce by Esc Design
Starting this year I will move all the references from the root domain esc.design to secretsauce.esc.design. I have new plans for the Esc Design community.
Resilience 2022
The #ResilienceTech Report builds on two past report series that correctly predicted three industry directions that were emergent throughout the digital transformation boom.
The centrality of design in digital consumer and enterprise products.
The paradigm of remote work and its potentially equalizing effects.
The shifts to AI/ML as intrinsically needing more inclusive design.
Personal (and Professional): Resilience is something that matters to you at an individual level.
Enterprise (and Non-Profit Enterprise)thereâs a clear interest in major organizations to become more resilient with new technologies.
Government (and Community)The responsibility of countries, states, cities is to keep their people free of harm to sustain stable livelihoods. Climate change has made technology a new necessity.
That's all for the first week. I have a lot to share with you in the next few days.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
See you
