Hey folks,
I haven't sent you a newsletter in a long time. From what I recall, I stopped writing here after I started teaching two cohorts at two different campuses and timezones.
Basically, I was working 🕓 4 hours for the Remote campus and another 🕓 4 hours for the Miami campus.
I will do everything I can to keep up with the UX/UI 🌍 world and share a lot of references and ideas from now on.
Digital Paper Prototyping
Paper and pen are my favorite tools to start any project, but in the past few years I've been trying to be more paperless, and I've been looking for a tool that will help me to achieve the carbon-neutral goal. I found this Paper Prototype library quite helpful and clean enough to run some tests.
Jumping into UX/UI
Whenever I start a new cohort, the ones without a design background have a lot of questions and are unsure if they will succeed. Here is an article that will inspire you: How I Became a UX Designer with No Design Experience
The job market is competitive and you truly have to sell yourself. You need to apply to as many roles as possible because this is a numbers game. Sometimes you’ll get an email back and sometimes you won’t hear back from the company EVER. Don’t take it personally. Just keep applying.
Iconic & Icon Design
My search for some food icons led me to this beautiful collection designed by Yannick. Additionally, I found these amazing icons on the Iconic App.
What you can do today?
In many instances, I mention the benefit of designers learning (a little bit) how to code. For further insight into what is possible with the Internet today, please check the website What Web Can Do Today. It is better to try to figure out whether a feature is possible before annoying your developer's friends.
Featured Portfolio: Cindy Huang
Take a moment to read some case studies by Cindy Huang. She is a talented designer you can learn from, and it's a great inspiration for how to build your portfolio.
That's it, everyone. See you next week.
